Manage all computer installation, maintenance and modification; primarily responsible for administration of all computers, servers, and user accounts at Soto Cano AB in Honduras. Provide end-user training for LAN and off-the-shelf applications, including approved specialized applications. Advise program manager, J6, and staff on technical systems-related matters and functions as the primary source of information on local technical capabilities. Perform troubleshooting and regular upgrades on all major systems, as required. Install, update, and configure Symantec firewall running on Solaris operating system. Direct teams to install, update, and configure security products such as Symantec Enterprise firewall version 8 running on windows 2003 server and Blue Coat 800 proxy server. Track, co-ordinate efforts to maintain hardware and software support agreements and software licenses up-to-date and effective. Perform LAN impact studies for new software and hardware and provide the harvested information to other department heads during scheduled meetings to assure zero impact on our network’s resources and its users. I’ve registered on the Cisco and General Electric websites to download appropriate updates for the switches that we had at Soto Cano AB in Honduras. I read DISA emails about required updates, searched the Cisco & GE websites for information concerning the updates. Downloaded the updates to the appropriate location within our CM library and loaded the ios on Cisco switches (2900 & 3500) & KG-100s. I’ve updated the ios on some switches when the memory was sufficient, at other times when it was not, I deleted the old ios, loaded the new ios, and rebooted the switch. I’ve also monitored and troubleshot switches via Solarwinds Network Monitoring System. We made extensive use of the VLAN technology incorporated in the switches.

I have used e-Eye Retina network scanning tools to scan networks. I’ve researched network/server/workstation vulnerabilities, built and presented proposal solutions, and helped monitor and incorporate the solutions. Reported findings and coordinated solution status with Army J6 and Defense Information Security Agency (DISA). We also had an internal update server (SUS updated to WSUS). I’ve also designed proposals for, and setup Symantec Enterprise Firewall. I worked with SouthCom purchasing office to straighten out support agreements. I’ve instigated, tracked, and co-ordinated the purchase and delivery of a Blue Coat proxy server. I also designed proposals for, upgraded its software, and set it up.  Clearance: Secret.
